Taking the scenic route is often the better way to explore, but as the driver of this van shows it can also be very dangerous.

A video posted to YouTube by channel China ODA shows a van attempting to cross a canal using nothing but a pair of tree trunks.

It’s unclear where the video was captured, though the YouTube channel’s name stands for ‘China Off-Road Driving Association’ – so we assume it’s somewhere in China.

In the clip, the driver has his head out the window as he edges onto the thin tree trunks very slowly.

From the way the wheels turn, it appears the vehicle could be front-wheel drive. The driver makes a number of small steering adjustments to ensure all four tyres stay on the makeshift bridge.

Once halfway, the driver then presses lightly on the throttle to ensure the vehicle continues to move.

By the looks of it, the tree trunks don’t appear to stoop much from the weight of the small van.

The video ends as the driver of the van reaches the other side of the canal and continues on his way. Folks, don’t try this at home.
